Going ELC with coolant

Going ELC with coolant

I want to switch to the ELC coolant. Did a search for how to but can not find the procedure and the amount to buy.

Can someone give me some help with this.

I remember how to flush just how much to add back.

4 gallons of ELC and fill the rest with distilled water once you completly flush the old stuff out. And I mean COMPLETELY flush it out. Run a garden hose down the filler neck with the truck idleing and the block drains removed for 30 minutes.

Just a hint - Once you get the old flushed out and you are about to get your helper to start pooring in the new. Make sure you connect the return hose from the degass bottle to the bottom of the radiator. It may look like cherry Koolaid but it dont taste like it and it will make you look like Freddy Kruger paid you a visit.

so you can mix 4 gallons and 4 gallons of distilled? I found the Rotella ELC but it said 50/50 mix allready on the bottle.is that the right stuff or is there concentrated ?

Wieckster, the ELC that I bought was 100%.
The 50/50 will work, but will be more expensive.

Question

O.K.

The post I had read said add water, dump water , add water, dump water ...

Then open heater up allow it to circulate. Drive around get it all out.

When you drain your radiator and it is clear.

Add red coolant to radiator and your done.

Now where are the block drains located so I can check out this method out?

Check this PDF out. It is for the Evans coolant and you dont want to drill the Degass Cap but it will show the block drains. http://www.dieselsite.com/pdffiles/evans.pdf
Find the driver side first, the passenger side is kinda hidden by the starter but in the same location as the drivers side. I followed this flush to get the green out and then did 1 distilled water flush before adding the red.

Thanks for the help fellas.

I am ordering my 203 stat and billet housing today and changing this weekend.

Also have installed my coolant filter just have to tap in when I am ready.
