weird sound..
hey i got a 77 f250 with a 351M and its got a POP sound commin from the ehaxust or somewhere but its not a backfire its a pop when i give it gas
other then that it will idle fine....
and dose anyone no how ti can time the motor easly

The pop sound may be due to a faulty vaccuum line. I had a pop from my 302 and discovered a short piece of open vaccuum hose coming out behind the carb that conected to nothing. I plugged the hose...problem solved. Only way I know to time any engine is with a timing light. Good luck.

we used to road time them when we were younger. find a country road, break the dist loose advance or retard, tighten it and drive... checking for spark knock, pings power etc. that was pre-timing-light $ days...that way actually works better than a timing light on a higher mileage motor, could you imagine setting a 100,000 mile motor to stock specs on the timing?
