Transfer Case compatability

I'm looking to upgrade from my busted NP208. I need to know if a 205 will bolt right in its place. It is behind an NP435 from an early 80s F150.

Also how does $850 sound for a '97 balljoint D60 with 4.10s that is ready to run.

The 205s are around 225 or so. How is it for a price as well?

that price seems high to me for a 205 personally, I have bought compete transmissions with one bolted to them for about half that, and bought a 205 from a wrecking yard for around 75, heck I have 3 205s sittting around as spares, man if them suckers are worth that i better get them up for sale.

that 205 outta bolt right in given you have the correct adapter housing. is it a 2wd square pattern 435? or a 4wd A-pattern 435?

you better ****** that 60 up quick! i'd be gettin that first thing!

That sucks man. I'll have to look at the link in a few minutes. I'm working on uploading photos of my destruction right now.

Where the tcase goes to hook to tranny it goes like this / \

If that don't make sense I'll have a picture in a minute. The two top bolts are closer than the bottom two.

awesome man! that looks vaguely familiar, lol!

yea thats the trapezoid style, you should be able to bolt that 205 right to it and be done! then just fab your twinsticks up (you ARE going to do that RIIIIGHT? ) and a new crossmember and redo your driveshafts, then you're up and going!

Ya, I'd imagine if I find a 205 for the right money I will get to work twin sticking it, rebuilding it, rebuild my NP435, and add a better clutch.

Then I Imagine I will have to re-do my front suspension AGAIN, whats the center to center on a '97 D60, they are like 36" aren't they? Right now I'm at like 32".

Will my front shaft be longer or shorter, and how about the rear shaft with the 205?

36.5" center pin to center pin.

the 205 will be pushed further down the frame... so your front will need to be lengthened and rear needs to be shortened. measure your adapter next chance you get

The adapter is 8.5"

Oh and I forgot, going to eliminate the 4" blocks in the rear. Shackle flip, and drop my hangers down if needed. Then fab up some sort of traction bar, I have some MAD wheel hop the way it is setup right now.

So, I'm basically going to be back at ground zero once again! LOL

Sounds like a hell of a project. If you end up with extra leafs let me know. What are you going to do with your old D44?

I found you the best deal on that D60 I could find. If your here by saturday morning before NOON when everybody closes we can shop around for that 205. I know where they sit but the place I checked for you was 225.00. You could also pull the adapter with the T case if you want a spare. Should get the shift linkage as well.

Yeah man, I should hopefully be able to make 'er out there. We'll hafta do some shopping for the 205. It'd be nice to find one for cheaper an get it all at once an be done with the shopping around part.

Truck is going to take on a whole new look by the time its up n running again!

BTW - I still can't get to your forums for some reason....Not sure whats going on there.

Cutts you got it backwards i think, as when i swapped my 208 for a 205 i had to shorten the front and lengthen the rear, and my setup is the same as grants, 435 and 208 from and 80's truck, and if the 208 can bolt up to the adapter then the 205 will too as they use the same 6 bolt bolt pattern.
