My truck ('98 F150 4.6 4x4 automatic) has made a whining noise while shifting since i bought it a few months ago. It almost sounds like supercharger. I put a new gator belt on it yesterday and the noise is still there. It is a bit lower-pitched than a belt slipping.
Any ideas?
Hi StephenH, Does this whine only happen while you are moving and the truck is shifting or does it happen all of the time like while sitting still in park? I had the same problem and it turned out to be my power steering pump. Joe
It only happens when shifting. I mainly notice it while shifting from first to second. When I floor the truck, the noise isnt as noticable as driving normally. I just changed my speed sensor, due to a code, but it hasn't had any affect on the noise.
