Fuel pump
Hey guys, Is the fuel pump adjustable on my 99 7.3? If so can I do it or do I need to take it to someone. I want to get more power,also I see all these psd when they stomp on them Black smoke comes out the pipes.Mine don't do this at all. I have been told that I need to turn up the juice. I plan on trying it in the 1/4 mile this spring and want the best results. Thanks

Their is a fuel pressure regulator that is up by the engine not at the fuel pump that some people shim out to get more pressure. If you haven't done so yet read the common mods section of this forum, slamost everything you need for more power/reliability will be in there. It says you have a chip but not what brand. Dp tuner is the by far favored chip for our 7.3. If you have a banks chip like the rest of your banks products they are made for every 7.3 out there, jody from dp talks to you and designs a chip for what you want your specific truck to do. He has a tune for smoke. I have the 120 race tune and it puts out alot of smoke when you stomp on it. You can spend tons of money on these beasts to get them to run the 1/4 mile. There are a couple running in the 10 secs right now. Search the forum and you will have weeks of posts to read on what you want. Good luck

You need a diffrent chip like ponch said if your running the banks chip. You probably have more than enough fuel pressure to blow smoke, you just need to have it so you get it through the injector, which with the banks chip its tuned to blow no or very very little smoke, the DP tuner will make your truck shoot some coal.
