Ok hello, first of all i haven't been egftting very many replies as to what i want, but you guys are awesome when you do reply, but please help me out on this last one, i am planning to take off the throttle body on my bronco 89 with a 302 i am gonna clean it, is there anything i should replace to help with throttle response and power while its apart??/
Next, i have to take the tranny out to replace a rear main seal, and the bronco has been doing this vibrating thing in OD and i was told that it could be the tourque converter, what do you think??
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 23-Dec-02 AT 11:08 AM (EST)]I did my TB cleaning on my 89 w/302 a few weeks ago. Make sure you clean it with TB cleaner and NOT carb cleaner. Replace the gasket while you are at it too. I replaced my TPS (throttle position sensor) since the TB has to be removed to do this. Only costs about $35. at auto parts stores. Also, clean the IAC (idle air control) valve on the right side of the TB. Clean with the same cleaner. I ended upi just replacing the assy for about $70. Mine ran so good after this was done that I had to idle it down. It idled over 1500 RPM's and I turned it back to about 700 RPM's. You will notice a better throttle response !
As far as the transmission, are you sure that your vibs are not drive shaft related ? Could be the u-joints or out of balance or both. To save a few bucks, take it off and take it to a driveline shop if you are not going to do it yourself. The double cardan ones kicked my butt and I ended up taking it somewhere to get it right.
hey man don't worry about it being so long, it helped me out alot, i don't know about the driveshaft, it feels like a loss of power while i am driving, i will check it and get back with ya
