Guys, I run heavy trucks in central georgia. I run rotella t 15w-40 in all my equipment and I have a friend who runs trucks outta east GA. He's been harping on me to try lucas oil stabilizer, says it's working great for his equipment. Does any one know anything about this stuff? Is it worth $30 a gallon? And does the thickness of the product hurt anything, I've got mallassas that pours quicker than that stuff? Any knowledge and insight would be appreciated, thanks ANG.

Just a thick oil with tackifier, like in chain bar oil, to make it cling. Basically snake oil. "says its working great" means what exactly? "The engine didnt blow up, so it must be the Lucas that saved it!" If he claims it stopped smoking or oil usage, he could have used a thicker motor oil at no extra cost in the first place. Same thing with piston slap noises.

Cummins/Perkins/Benz/IH and the likes warns against snake oil addatives. Modern oils are all you need. I never understood why some think a multi billion dollar petroleum co who stakes their repuatation on products for heavy equiptment/mining etc and long haul trucks and keeping them going can set aside for some backyard labatory selling things you dont need. Next they`ll be selling bottled air for your tires claming it makes them last longer cause its cleaner or some poo poo.
