I had a miss in my engine it actually shaked the truck going down the road. I paid sombody to diagnose it. Misfire on cylinders 2,7 so I replaced the ignition coils on them cylinders, but I cheaed out and bought them from Advanced auto parts half the price. Well that was 2 moths ago and now it it misses again but not bad enough to kick th engine light on so I figured I would buy 1 ford coil and install it to replace 1 of the advanced coils. Helped a little but thinking it may also be the other advanced coil. I found on ebay a company called Global Automotive and their offering 10 oem coils and 10 motercraft plugs for $155.00. I emailed them to see where the coils come from and they answered that their made by Visteon in Europe. Kinda scared to buy somthing after market has anybody ahad any dealings with these companies or these product? How about some opinions thanks
Yeah your probably right I should try the sparkplugs first. I guess I just get rapped up in all the new technology and forget about the basics. I'll keep you posted.
I replaced 2 coils at $55 each. My truck has 200000 miles with a rebuild about 3000 miles ago. I figured what the hell, who knows the history of my coils, therefore I bought 8 more on eBay from Global, now it runs like a kitten. No relation to Global. This is my honest answer. Good Luck, John
Hey benny, before you spend a bunch O' money on new coils all the way around, have you tried just replacing the rubber boot inside of the coils. This is also a likely culprit for your problems. These insulator boots crack and allow misfires to occur. They are cheap, too! I believe you can get them at your local parts house.
Hey fellas I talked to a guy I know from the local Ford dealership. He said that 9 times out of 10 if a coil goes bad the plug getts shorted out too. So I replaced the 2 plugs on the cylinders that I changed the coils on. It made little of no change at all so I gave the deal I found on Ebay a try and it has been successfull this far. Thanks for all the helpfull suggestions.
yes I did and so far they work great. I just orderd a set for my dads truck over the weekend. I actually talked to the company on the phone this time and they assured me that they never had any of them come back, and I was told that they supply many comanies accross the country.
