Bronco Sound System Question

Need some help. What would be the best place for sub in a Bronco? Also, What would be a decent Sub and amp combo? I have a Sony Head Unit with Polk EX365's in the Door and Pioneer 6x8 in rear. I posted in Audio forum too but I want the opinions of the bronco crowd also.

Bronco Sound System Question

I just had a subwoofer box in the back. If I needed the extra room, like when hunting season rolled around, I could just take the box out and pull the fuse for the amp.

BTW - Alpine V12 subwoofer amp with two 10" subs. It could make the fiberglass top rattle.

Bronco Sound System Question

Well, it's a good thing you asked, because I have just finished installing a Polk Audio 10 inch sub in my bronco and it pumps out some good bass.

The delete panel on the passenger side in the rear.....was cut out and a custom MDF box built....(sealed enclosure)

Once the box was built a 1/2 inch additional fae panel was attached and routed (to create a border similair to the old delete
panel had) then the inner part of the panel containing the subwoofer, was upholstered with tan vinyl to match the interior's color, and a grille was fabricated with plastic pins and velcro
as a way for it to remain mounted on the box to help hide the sub.

The end result is a luggage area that looks clean and flush black grille fabric that replaces the empty space....
The box was mounted there by metal straps....(machined and painted hot rolled steel) for rigidity....

The amp used was a Pioneer monoed 150 watts
wth the low pass filter for the 150hz and below....

The sub realy kicks out some good bass notes and makes the sound system sound much more expensive....it sounds that good!!!!

I have Infinity speakers front and rear......so the highs and mids are crisp.

the amp that pushes these is a pioneer 4 channel 60X4 watts

I have a pioneer cd player changer control head unit with detach faceplate...

I also used 4 guage power wire into a dist block for 2 8 guage power wires.....and a 60 amp fuse 18 inches from the battery

The signal cables, I used monster cable (the highest quality)

I also have a 12 disc cd changer..(also pioneer)

Next is a dvd player......

Bronco Sound System Question

Eh...no pics capone? I would like to see that project.

For me though, I just have a box in the back that can be removed easily if I need room. I placed both amps in the rear cubby holes to get them out of the way since the cubby holes mainly used to hold trash anyway.

Someone on this board, I forgot who, put a subwoofer box in between the front seats. I like bass, but not enough to set the box next to me....its a little too extreme for me. But may be worth considering.

There is a fellow Bronco owner who lives near me that made a thin enclosure for a 12 inch speaker and mounted it perfectly on the rear tailgate. It looks good, but the only problem is that you lose the the ability to sit on the tailgate if you ever lower it.

Good Luck!

Bronco Sound System Question

I just put a rather expensive system in my bronco about a month ago. I went with an Aiwa CD/MP3 player with remote, 2 4" Pioneer in the doors (rated at 80Watts a piece). I have Pioneer 6x9's in the back. In the way back I have a killer MA Audio 4000watt amplifier and two Audiobahn 10" subs rated at 600watts RMS each. Needless to say I can make the air freshener hanging from the rearview mirror dance. I have the subs in a dual non-ported enclosure facing the rear window. It will make your heart skip a beat if you put one of those power supply bass cd's in. I love it and my wife hates it, which makes me love it even more. If you have any other questions about installing an amplifier/subwoofer system let me know. I just went through the whole process about 2 months ago and it sounds great.

Bronco Sound System Question

I have a suggestion......remove the old console and make a new one!!!! with a 10 inch band pass enclosure at the bottom.....

the top half of the box will be a console with a small compartment.....and cup holders in front to boot!!!

the lower half will be a down firing, 10 inch sub with the front vented towards the rear seats with two good sized ports mounted at the bottom of the console....

It can be done!!!!

Just reuse the old console lid, hinges and locks and
get working on a MDF console and you can even upholster it to match your interior!!!

Bronco Sound System Question

Thats basically what I did. I removed the center console and built and bolted down a small deck. I put the amp under the deck and bolted the box to the deck.

Bronco Sound System Question

I took out the center console on my 93 and built a box between the seats for the amp, and bolted the console back to the top. I left an access door to the amp so I can change the levels if I want. I used 4 gauge wire through the firewall, and put a splitter in the box for 2-8 gauge wires. One side has my amp to it, the other I hooked up a couple power outlets for when people plug in cell phones so I don't have wires all over the truck. I also built a switch into the side so I can shut the amp off if I need to. If I ever sell the bronco I can just bolt the original console back down and nobody'll ever know the difference. Only bad part is the console does sit about 4 inches higher, so it's a little harder to see down inside of it, but I don't have to reach way down now to get my pop out of it. Don't have anything fancy for the subs yet, but it's still a work in progress.

Justin

Bronco Sound System Question

Amps under the Center Console? Wierd...what is next? Subwoofers mounted on a board attached to the back of the front seats? Amps mounted above your head on the roof? Sunvisors with a 5 & 1/4 speaker component system? I remember seeing a Bronco on ebay with a full size Home DVD player mounted under the dash in front of the center console and a Small TV bolted onto the top of the Center Console for people in the back seat. Sorry, some people's setups are downright odd. But hey, to each his own!

Bronco Sound System Question

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 22-Dec-02 AT 12:31 PM (EST)]I used to have a ported box with two 12" cerwin vegas in my 83 Bronco. I don't know why, but facing the box toward the rear window really helped the bass. Someday I hope to do it again in my 96 since I still have the box, but I have too many jetski parts to buy right now.

On another note, has anyone done a drop down LCD screen in the headliner above the rear view mirror? What did you use and how does it look?

Bronco Sound System Question

Your system sounds righteous. I am on the first step removing the inside panels. I got all the screws out but the panel seems clipped somehow. Any advice on how to remove this panel- then I will be on my way.

Bronco Sound System Question

Submarine
In some states, it's illegal to have a TV where the driver can see it. That's why all the OE drop-down TVs are fully behind the driver. Check your local laws, or all your work could be wasted and you could have a ticket on top of it!
