driveline fluid change
does anyone know the story with changing tranny fluid ?? I hear conflicting statements regarding adding old fluid to new fluid to decrease slipping?? with all my other trucks i never did such a thing. should i also change the tranny filter and gasket? do my stock frt & rear diff's take any additives when changing these fluids? thanks

Go to a true transmission shop and ask them if they can guarantee you that you won't have problems if they change the fluid and they will not guarantee it. From experience on my 89 Bronco, I had to get my AOD rebuilt after doing a fluid change. most people may not have any problems but it is good to take all situations into consideration when doing something like this. I have 2 friends with a 90 and 91 and they drained and refilled with half and half of ATF fluid and Lucas Transmission Fix and they no longer have ANY transmission problems. It is made to specifically stop slipping, hard shifting etc... I am going to do this procedure this Spring or Summer and will post my results then.
