thump and grind
my 2000 3.0 4x4 ranger has this wierd noise coming from the front. when i turn the wheel far left and right, and give it a little gas, its either a grinding noise which last only a second or 2 and goes away after i turn it back but is hard to repeat the same noise. also if i hit a bump while turning all the way i hear a thump or thud noise like chassis has been kicked up and back down again. i dont know whether that might be the ball joints. i had the lowers replaced about 15-20k miles ago. the other ones were shot completely!!! could the top be going bad? is there a way to tell, im about to do my brakes both front and back and wanted to know anything or little tests i can do to help narrow it down. my front diff. im sure has a leak, cause there is fluid sprayed all around the place near the u-joint (front diff) and leaking from the back seal of it. if its low, will that cause a grind noise? know this is a lot, but i want to find out what this is, i hate noises and know that where theres noise...theres trouble. thanks to anyone
