Water pump leak

Is this what I think it is?

If so, figures. I just installed a coolant filter, thinking I'd be able to make it last a bit longer. I thought my installation of the filter setup was leaking, but all I can see is a drip from the water pump. ~97k on what I believe is the original water pump.

I assume I'll need to drain the entire system before removing the old one? Any tips?

Truck tinkering continues...

Forget to ask - how long do you think I have before this thing turns into a "deluge" ?

Yes that is a tale tell sign that your pump is out! I have the exact same problem you are having (but mine is leaking alot more) and my truck has over 200,000 miles. I believe it is the original pump. There is a post on here about pumps and replacement. I am at work so limited to time otherwise I would post it. Guys on here will tell you to go aftermarket rather than OEM. Good Luck!

I noticed it on a Sunday evening and Waited to the next Saturday to swap it. I kept a close eye on it during that week and the "Weep" didn't get any worse.

I too had just done the Coolant filter and a full flush and swap to Rotella ELC, When I did the pump I only drained about 4 - 5 gallons of coolant. Swapped the pump - refilled coolant and changed coolant filter to be safe.

Thanks for that tidbit, I was wondering how much coolant I'll have to replace. I am planning to do it next Saturday so I'll be keeping an eye on it this coming week.

BTW thanks for the email reply. I'll be buying the dieselsite billet housing along with the 203* thermostat to do at the same time...

Do NOT torque the water pump bolts to the spec in the service manual. You'll break at least one off, for sure!

Though I don't remember the spec off-hand, it's been mentioned a bunch of times, so do a search.
