Truck has 191,000 on it now, previous owner said they replaced clutch when it had 120,000 on it . Any way to tell what flywheel I have without removing tranny? Tranny shop in Mansfield can put a LUK gold series in for around 900.00. Would it be better to switch to the solid flywheel ? I want to install a D-P Tuner later . Thanks for the input people.
IF someone put a different flywheel in, such as a LUK, and they follwed the directions to the letter there should be a thin aluminum stamped tag indicating that on one of the bolts around the bellhousing. My LUK came with such a tag. You should have a solid flywheel no matter what.
MAKE SURE YOU GET A KEVLAR PILOT BUSHING ! Factory style pilot bearings ruin trannies.
A solid flywheel is the one to have from what I been reading for trouble free performance. Thanks FD, you basicly have the same truck as mine from your sig.

My wallet is still empty from that experience!!!
And I had a solid flywheel from the factory.
Cause of your experience I called my Dad (99 PSD) the other day to make sure his had the updated pilot bushing when he installed his SouthBend last fall. Luckily the answere was yes and yes to the updated fork. I told him about your experience and he was relieved to know he'd done the right thing without even knowing.
Somthing seemed strange this afternoon when I tried to drive it. I drove it home fine the other day, just not much clutch pressure, but more free play. Today I fired it up and I could not get it to go in any gear, seemed like more freeplay in the pedal. Could it be the slave cylinder going bad ? Another thing to look into tomorrow.
Ide check ur clutch pedal res for proper brake fluid lvl. How cold is it outsite? Ur slave cylinder might be getting weak/old. I still mok ford for putting plastic tubing on the clutch system...wtf ford! Did it change at all compared to when it was cold and when it warmed up?
Kwik when it was all said and done what did that job cost you? If mine ever goes south ide like to know a good number before i jump into anything. Thanks

Level in the res. was low the other day when I drove it home, temp about 20. Yesterday, I pluged in the heater about 4 hrs before I started it temp around 14 above zero. Are they easy to check? They just bolt on the the bell hsg, I could remove it and find out real fast if its bad. Thanks.
One more thing, one reason it's slipping 'cause I havn't changed the fuel drain o-rings yet, just got the torx bit yesterday. Fuel was on the bottom of the bell-hsg.
