Guys I dont know how to rebuild my motor. I know how but dont know what to use I am on such a tight budget that its not funny I am trying to squezze some horspower and touqre out. I am thinking about tims meyer rebuild kit, with stock cam everything stock but going with a good timing chain. It puts me at $ 355 but dont know if he charges more for taxes and what not. I have been bugging him all week on qoutes I am sure he is getting tired of me. What do you guys think of this for my 400. Then it would get a weiden intake and some headers. Should that bump the power up quite a bit over a stock 351m ? Oh yeah some reason I cant go straight to engine kits on tims site I have to go to cart and the continue shopping so I dont know if the price is right since it said it was being updated,

maybe you can locate a used motor that will run long enough for you to rebuild at your leisure and budget.
I got a lot of the needed parts for cheap on ebay first time around- and i had a client who got cost on roller cam stuff. I ended up with some higher end parts for pretty cheap but I will not go that way again- too big of a pain and I like knowing where they come from and supporting those that support us (TMI). I'll still buy intakes etc and get decent deals and have not been stung yet. If your on a very strict budget you gotta take advantage of all options to get the best build.
I think those that can afford Tim are smart for doing so ( he isn't any more expensive than the average and is competitive from what i've seen)- but this forum is here to support you and answer questions if you end up finding a 'wholesale' type deal elsewhere- it could happen- and has with a lot of folks.
I rebuilt a wheezer with a master kit for under 250-to the door. machine shop cost more than that though.
I pulled the 400 a part today and found it to be pretty ullgy. SO I am going for a rering kit for my 351m, I pulled it apart and it doesnt look bad. I for rings and bearing and gaskets for 161. Think about going that way then I will do like you was tlaking about just taking my time to build the 400 ri ght.
