ive read alot of topics about when all yall idi lovers start up for the first time it smokes white at startup and then quits after it warms up, mine is the opposit of that. when you start it at first its just a little puff of smoke but as it warms up it doesnt go away it gets worst. its not so extreme that you cant see your hand in front your face but i know its not wright. what could be causing this?
What is the fast idle speed set at....... 900 rpm is good (hot), do you allow the engine to idle at the normal idle speed for extended time..... these engines will cool off not heat up at idle, this could cause smoke.
If you have a low compression cylinder, or a bad injector they could cause similar problems.
thanks plc7.3 for the responce. the fast idle is close to that, it kind of acts like as it sits and idles one or two of the cylinders starts overloading with diesel. not sure if its just not burning it or if its an injector that is dumping to much fuel and is causing a cylinder to overload with fuel. could this be possible? ive tried cracking injector lines to pinpoint wich injector but no noticable difference in rpm.
ive been running diesel kleen since ive owned the truck and thats been about a year and ive seen a noticable difference in engine performance. as far as injectors that could be the case.
the color im getting might be a light grey color it kind of looks like its got a tint of blue color in it. i know its a pain in the butt to get started without the glow plugs working no matter what the temp is outside. it can be 80 degrees outside and it wont start. just seems like even though the glow plugs arent working that it sould still start without the plugs in 80 to 85 degree weather. im planning on doing a new style set up on it, already have the controller just waiting to get the gow plugs.
