Engine Management

I have searched this site and have not found what I am looking for, so here goes. I recently built an engine for my truck(specs are in my gallerey). I converted to mass-air using the ford kit. Ford told me that this is essentially the computer out of a 93' mustang Gt. I am now looking into an engine management system that will give me feedback as to what is happening in the engine as well as allowing me to change programs if need be. I have been looking at the Tweecer or the Anderson ford programmable engine management system. I understand that I would have to be careful using either one. Getting a chip burnt and using a chassis dyno isn't an option. Eventually I would like to visit a dyno nearby(like a 5hr drive), but that is something I will do down the road once all my modifications are done. If any body knows of one in Saskatchewan or North Dakota-let me know.
I guess I am looking for opinions on these two systems or other systems that might be out there.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Just throughing things at the wall here.

Spanish oak comes to mind. However, If it possible I would choose to use an OBD2 computer. It will have more programming options available, such as sniper or sct. I think any of the free tuners have a very limited support scope. A9L and A9M seemed to be the popular ecms. I still don't understand how Unichip works, but it and the Accel DFI and AEM setup should work. Here's some links.

The AEM unit looks interesting, but I was of the understanding that using the Anderson unit or the Tweecer would provide me with the ability to change the settings in the computer I already have also.
Let me also state that this engine is running and performing quite well, I just believe that there is more availible if I can customize the parameters in the computer that is already in my truck.

ok, I thought you were looking for computer alternatives. I tried tweecer once, but with out the correct bin, it just sucked. Ford Racing also put out a tuner and there is this one as well, http://tunerpro.markmansur.com/

HI 1990,

Well, if what you want to do is to tune the vehicle, then you can contact us and we can set you up with a Racer Pro package that allows you to tune it yourself. And the SCT software does in fact work just fine on the EEC-IV PCM's, with hundreds of truck & Mustang owners using it on their EEC-IV PCM's.

Now when it comes to datalogging, if you are going to stick with that EEC-IV PCM, then your best bet for datalogging is to get a SNEEC unit for it - you have to jump on them when they are available, just hit Google and type in SNEEC and you will find the company - I don't have the link handy on this machine or I'd give it to you - anyway, the SNEEC is the bet device for datalogging an EC-IV type of PCM, you'll see more parameters so that it can actually be properly tuned, and the SNEEC generally works more reliably than any other unit for the Ford EEC-IV type PCM's.

I hope this info helps, & good luck!

Thank-you.
That Sneec is exactly what I was looking for. Hopefully I can get one in March. After I find out what is happening inside the engine I will feel 100% more confident. That is one awesome tool. It is also cheap insurance and will save me a lotta $$$ in the long run.
I will definately keep you in mind for that Sct-Racer Pro system. I will have to do some research on it.
