Sorry boys, but this has the be the uglest truck every manufactured anywhere at any time. It looks like an 07 with a bad aftermarket hack job- like the neighbor kid finished adding a wing on his camaro and decided to hack some fender vents and a new grill on the front of his dad's truck.
And all that plastic chrome? What, are we driving trucks in rap videos now? What is next, 30" rims and ground effects?
What has happened to Ford?
and that tailgate step?
Lemme think... you buy a truck with a +3,000#payload rating but you are unable to lift your own *** into the back of your own truck? What is next, a GM with a tailgate elevator?
Face, the new truck looks like a dog clad in plastic chrome.
I guess that new Daimler Dodge commercial chassis just started looking a whole lot better.
dam IHbase you wanna tell us how you really feel...lol...i dont like the look that much either...i thing the 450 looks bada$$ but they always have to make changes to keep up with demand...i just think its unny how many people go out and buy the next best think just because they have to have it...serioulsy navigation, dvd's sound systems, heated seats, leather, power telescoping mirrors, tailgate step...blah blah blah....im 22 and i think thats a bunch of crap so that more americans can go into debt...if you can afford it more power you but i know i never could...how many people are spending all this money on these trucks and are actually using them for work and what they are meant for and not just as a status figure...like i said i would feel to bad at the end of the day because i have to use mine for a work truck and it get beat up inside and out...not extremely bad but enough that if i bought a f450 KR with all the ding and whistles i would be afraid to touch it...to much junk but allot of people will buy them just to have them....ahhh love living in the land of the free
A local dealer here in Richmond has the '08 King Ranch on the lot. I don't remember the OEM name but it's blue with the AZ biege lower. I really think the truck looks better in person than on-line. I didn't get inside the truck but the interior is kinda sharp but not my taste.
The BIGGEST thing I noticed was NO PRICING on the sticker!!
I think it must be a dealer demo or something else.
no pricing is because itll scare everyone away...if i was in the market for an 08 i would wait a few years to let the bugs get outta the 6.4...if there is any (fingers crossed) and also let them drop the prices because they are probably going to out price some people....also the little things they change after a few years of a new style make a world of differnece...like the 1st year 97 f150...i had it but the 2000 + looked better...i just think i will wait because im not going to buy something right off the bat just to have the new thing and risk buying a overpriced lemon!!
You want to see ugly, look at the new HD Chevy. Holy crap that thing is ugly. I do agree the 2008 Superduty is a big step backwards in looks though, although the interior is good. Love the electric heater option. The rear step is ugly but very handy. The Superduty badges everywhere are ridiculous.
You know i didnt care for the front look at all either but truly it has grown on me i dont mind it now its one bad *** truck and i love the interior but IH you got to think its the new generation for ex tailgate step its for people who are short or have a have hard time getting into the box because of old age back problems etc
if you can step up into these trucks that you can step into the bed....corner or the bumper and onto the tailgate....its all junk and the oonly reason they are putting this crap onto these trucks is to lure the people in...save all the dings and whistles for the cars...a truck is what it is A TRUCK....its for all the old people and short people or the people who have a hard time getting into the box...when i see a guy getting into his SD with the tailgate assist ... lol... im going to call him a woosey and call it a day...my dad has a platfor he made that sits on top of his wheel wells...it takes the STEP UP into the truck another 12"...if my 50 yr old dad who had back surgery for a ruptured disk can climb in and out of it 10 times a day dont give me any crap that its for the short or old guys...its for the lazy poeople...this is where it all starts a dam tailgate step...the people who will be using the step is for the people who wont be using there trucks very much...i dont wanna di*k around with a stupid piece of plastic and then pull p a bar to drag my 210 lbs into my truck i wanna hop in and dont worry about bending over and tucking it back away because itll just be in the way...waste of time...waste of space...just my .02...o well ill proably own one in about 10 yrs any ways...LOL
Just what Ford needs-Their own Avalanche. Up until now, I thought the Avalanche and the Ridgeline were tied for ugliest truck. Now they are fighting over 2nd place. They need to fire the designers, and anybody else that approved such a POS looking truck.
i havenly 1 question...everyone either hates the look or loves it...but i hear alot more hates than likes...my question is did the 05-07 re style get this much negative feedback?? at first.
Saw 2 08's this weekend here in Corpus Christi, TX
First one was a f-350 CC King Ranch dually MSRP 54K
other was a F-350 CC Single axle XLT MSRP 48K
Dunno they are slowly growing on me I will go test drive them on Monday cause they are still doing the dealer prep on these bad boys and the dealers aren't done driving them yet
Glad I bought my 06 SD. I too think the 08 looks like crap. What happened to the SD?
I thought the SD was a real truck for people who use their truck. The 08 SD inside and out looks like some kind of a tarted up yuppe truck.
Looks like I will be keeping my 06 longer than I thought I would.
It seems to me that someone at Ford came to the new design update challenge with the wrong impression of what we want / need in a truck. They looked at us and thought "bunch of dumb rednecks who want something big and shinny- they wanna look tough and assoicate with "SUPERDUTY"
so the solution was to make a "tougher" looking truck with "SUPERDUTY" stamped on the body no less than 7 times.
Only problem is that this approach mistakes the outcome for the cause. We bought the trucks because they had excellent GVWs and good (for the most part) drivetrains. But now we got stuck with no-value add-ons for the sake of someone's idea of marketing. (Fender vents??? Give me a brake, this is not an M-series BMW- a piece of equipment that actually DESERVES fender vents because it makes over 100 hp/litre) We got a bigger looking truck with no more substance. We got image. We got fluff. We got no more substance.
I truely believe that if Daimler comes up with a heavier truck (new chassis cab Dodge is a good start) Ford will lose the heavy market share. As for the light truck market, Toyota, Nissan and even GM are making inroads there as well.
Ford seems to have lost direction by relying upon branding (Harley and King Ranch) to sell trucks to people who do not need them instead of giving substance to people who actually do need a truck.
That said, Ford still deserves credit for the '05 front axle. And I have to admit that each morning, I smile like a kid when that International fires to life. The truck is solid, handles a lot of weight and works well. I love my '07 truck.
I just hate to see the new truck look like such a gimmicky piece of ill-concieved marketing.
