Tuff to start when cold

I have a 98 Expy xlt 5.4 4wd, when the engine is cold and the temp outside is very cold it tuff to start. It will barley get itslef started and if very cold it will start and die right away. After about a minute it is fine. I think it is the trottle control valve, I was just wondering if I can get confirmation on that and if so how hard is it to change. Any help anybody can give would be a great help. thanks

At what temps are you referring to? I would try plugging in the block heater if you have one and that would make it easier for the motor to crank over when it's cold. The only other thing I can think of is cleaning your IAC or putting a bottle of gasline antifreeze in the fuel tank to get any moisture out of the fuel.

That's if it's really cold ( -30's or below )

When it gives me trouble the temps are 10-40 degrees. I regularly put in dry gas in the winters. I keep the truck in the garage at night (temps 40-50) and starts but doesn't roar to life. Don't know if this helps.

I changed the IAC this weekend, nice easy job. Seems to have done the trick. Thanks for the help.
