my mileage has sucked,,,,
10 to 11 mpgs this winter with boost tube
13 mpgs with out.
average temps about 20 deg,,,,,,,,,,,,,fluctuating between -36 to 34 deg.
most of my poor mileage is due to auto starting 30 min to an hour per day to warm it up on those under 20 deg days.
this is even running DK every tank.
Well....I figured that if you fuel up with still some fuel still in the tank, there will always be a concentration of DK left. And if you pour some in every tank, the concentration will continue to grow unless you run completely out of fuel. This is why I do it every other tank... Plus I see better MPG's on the tank I don't use it on, kind of the same effect as the acetone when I tried it in my bronco.
I think it is not only the winter blend but also the outside tempature and how far you drive each time you do a cold start. The colder it is the longer it takes to warm up so the longer the EBPV stays closed putting a load on the engine to let it warm up faster. For a short drive it might stay closed most of the way.
If you have a longer drive it will have time to open and your milage should go up at that time. The colder it is the longer it will take it to open so on a 10 degree day it will stay closed longer than on a 30 degree day, that is if it was parked outside. People up north will lose more milage then those down south because of this just like some that lives close to work compared to someong that has a long drive every day.
I have not seen any studies to back this up, just my 2 cents as to how I see it.
well i think that may have answered my question that i sort of already posted but i didn't realte it to my mileage. I was wondering if my thermastat was stuck open and the truck ran cold if i would get worse mileasge... I think you are saying yes.. Did i get that right??
