Lightbulb New radiator hose

I can't remember who, but someone mentioned a radiator hose that is rerouted to allow changes of the serpentine belt without needing to disconnect this hose.

Maybe Kwik or Guzzle or AMiller, but I'm not 100% certain of the who, but I'm sure of the what.

I'm going to be switching to the gold coolant soon, and putting on a 203* thermostat & billet housing, so I figured I'd take care of that while I was in there.

I just went to NAPA up there on Link Lane and asked for the 'dual alternator' hose for the 7.3 and they knew the exact hose I needed. Paid for it and left....9066 is the number.

just ask for the upper hose for a dual alternator truck. Oreilly's, Carquest, A-Zone any should have it.

SWEET!!! Thanks!!! I'd like to get it within the next week, so does maybe one of the site sponsors have a good deal on this item? Given that my local NAPA charged me $22 for a part they carry online for $10.49, I'd like to go that route.

Rockauto http://www.rockauto.com has it for about $7.50 but as I recall it was only about $9 from NAPA.

Forgive the side question, but what is the benefit of going to the 203* thermostat?

To say you have the 203* stat. It lets the engine rune closer to where IH designed it to run but there is really no MPG or power gain.

Pete, I think the stock tstat is somewhere between a 190* and 195* unit, Alan correct me if I am wrong.

Just remember the general rule of thumb--- the warmer a diesel is the better it runs----whithin reason

That's sort of what I expected, but wasn't sure. Thanks for the confirmation. I might just be beginning to learning something from being in here after all. Thanks.
