I have a 88 f150 with a 302 with carb on it. Now I fired her up and ran her for about 20 mins then oil went every where. I emidately stoped the engine and seen a clear hose running from the fire wall to the oil sending unit. I am assuming it came undone but when I take the brass fitting off and re insert the hose and tighten the fitting back down the hose just slips back out... what can i do?
My faith in that thin walled plastic tube that carries the oil to my guage is getting weaker every month. I am paranoid that it will get brittle from the heat and break one of these days when I am 1,000 miles from nowhere (Dwight Yokum?).
Anyway, I plan on replacing the plastic line with a cool braided stainless line that I spied at a local hot rod auto parts house. They want $35.00 for it though - a bit steep for right now. Maybe with some overtime at work.
I remember years ago having the oil line on the back of my accessory oil gauge break inside my car and hot oil squirting on my leg while driving. You really don't want to ever have that experience.
