i am having some problems with my temp. gauge. I can be driving for hours and it will never completely come off co the cold mark. I still works a litlle bit and the gauge will acually rise and fall but only a fraction of an inch. The hottest i have ever seen my gauge was at the n on normal and that was after 5 hours of highway driving. I just replace my radiator because it had a hole, but this didn't affect the gauge at all.
do i have a serious problem here or do i just need to replace my gauge? I am worried that I am running hot and I don't about it
thanks

Before you go pulling the thermostat, you might want to check the temp sensor in the block. Factory sensors are heat reactive resistance types and will change their resistance qualities with age as ALL resistive components do. Also make certain its not leaking and that there is a good contact with the wiring. It doesn't take much to lose a good contact and all these factors can adversely affect it.
Replace the therm. Its cheep, takes 15 minutes and the truck probably needs it replaced anyways. I had the same thing happen to me and the themostate fixed the problem.
I had the exact same problem with my 90 5.8L XLT - the temp wouldn't go above the N, and if it did it was overheating by the time it was half way up. Changed the rad cap and the thermostat and it's running normally now.
