i was looking at a jug of diesel klean the other day, it was a 32oz bottle and reading on the back it says it treats 100gal or 35gal of b2 biodiesel. the queston is i remember reading a while back it some posts that guys where say'n that they were putting a bottle in per tank. does this stuff come in different size bottles or are they using the 32oz to treat 29gallons of fuel?
yes there are different bottle size ..i use about 16 to 18 oz per tank..i have a 38 gal.fuel tank..you can not over use this stuff so dont sweat it if you think you added too much..
The last time I used it, I believe the bottle treated three tanks of gas. It was a 32oz bottle. Tank size does matter, some guys were double dosing their tanks with the whole bottle.
They say that 96 oz. treats 300 gallons of low sulfur diesel and 100 gallons of a 20% biodiesel mix. I run 8 oz in my truck every tank since I only have a 26 gallon tank. I didn't see any great benefits of running more so I keep it at that.
The Stanadyne fuel treatment out performs the Power Service Diesel Kleen in my truck. I get 1-2 mpg better my engine runs even more quiet than with the Diesel Kleen. It lubricates better, but its so damn expensive I only run it every third or fourth tank.
I'm running 16oz every time I fill up my 29 gallon tank, and typically am putting in about 25 gallons of fuel. I'm using the white bottle with the anti-gel during the colder months, which doesn't have the cetane boost component like the gray bottle does, which I run in the warmer months.
I normally get my 96 ounce jugs of DK from Walmart. I hear that you can also find them at big truck stops, too. Shop around, too, as I even see different prices for the same jug at different Walmart stores here in Birmingham.
Not sure why, but my truck actually does not perform as well when I use diesel kleen, over another brand. I have been using a product called diesel aid, I don't know if it has even more added cetane than DK or not. It is a non alcohol based additive. A 16oz bottle treats 100 gallons, it also has an anti-gel, and a biocide.
My truck just likes this stuff better, and the only place I can find it is a local large gas retailer.
I have tried both the grey and the white bottle of DK before and it just isn't the same.
It's cheaper to buy the gallon(-) jugs of Dieselkleen at Wallyworld but it helps to carry around the 32 0z bottle to make adding it in easier IMHO. I just ordered Schaeffer's Dieseltreat 2000 and some premium soyshield. Gonna give them a try and see how they compare. Her'e a link to them:
If you all have a Tractor Supply in your area they have the 96 oz. grey Diesel Kleen for $10.96, at least here in central Florida they do. Wal-mart sells it for $15.00+ here.
where do ya'll get your bottles at WalMart only had the 32oz bottles, but I haven't really looked around yet.
Advance auto parts has the smaller bottles (and the big ones if you wish).....Haven't checked Auto Zone, but I can imagine that they have them too.......
