ANY HELP will be great !!!!!!
I have a 1976 ford f150 that I just put a Powermaster 150 amp (one) wire alternator in. The one wire goes direct to positive post of battery terminal (per instructions). The amp gauge got smoked about 5 minutes after start up.....I acquired 2 new insturment clusters from a friend after installing second cluster ........started truck and gauge burnt again including printed circuit to gauge. I called thr Powermaster company and they said that there should be no power going through amp gauge since one wire system only goes to the pos + battery terminal.....I feel they are wrong ? I tested the 2 leads to amp gauge and 1 has +12vdc and 1 has nothing.....if you bypass amp gauge by putting these 2 wires together then there is power at the ignition switch otherwise no power at ignition means no running truck???......Powermaster said bypass amp gauge but then I wonder if the extra amperage will burn out the circuit thus causing no power to the ignition????????/ please help my remedy BUTCH
