hey i took my truck out 4x4ing and got er stuck in the mud and water seaped into my diff's and then when i dropped my diff plate all there was in with the crown and spider gears was mudd and sludge, so i took it all out and put new oil in the diff and then drove er for a bit and then dropped that oil and placed new oil back in. Anything i should worry about ?
Agreed. I am a fan of cleaning everything out with some brake clean. It's a pretty good solvent and it will evaporate rather quickly too. Then I just make sure everyhting gets a good coat of oil before it decides to rust.
Say goodbye to your axle. Most likely the axle and bearings will fail soon due to all of the damage that was done. Bearings etc do not take well to being ground together with rock dust etc.
I tend to agree with Torque1st. The bearings do not like that kind of stuff in there, heak they don't like being spun after a good cleaning, and no lube. How much crap was actually in there? How did it get in there? Did you fix that problem so it will not happen again? Re-route the vent tube, how is the other axle? I am assuming that it encountered the same mud hole, how about the t-case, and the trans, did they stay out of harms way?
I've a truck out back I just did the bearings on this fall- been nothing but a mud truck for 6 years- bearing were barely even scarred. All I ever did was change diff fluid.
