Wont Start
Have a 2000 7.3 with an auto-start/alarm system installed and it currently will not start. The "Wait to Start" glow plug system and i believe the fuel system are not activating. Engine will crank but not start. Thought i accidently tripped something when i was removing an old mobile phone car kit. Removed hot and ground from the fuse box in cab for this car kit. Checked ALL fuses in both boxes and swapped the PCM Relay with another to see if that made a difference. From what we can tell the glow plug and starter/fuel relays have power but are not activating.
I get the same results either by trying to start with the key or the remote start. Just cranks over.
Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

Fuel bowl heater could be shorting out and blowing fuse under hood. You can unhook the heater ( bottom of filter housing on right side) and replace fuse if blown. Does your wait to start light come on? If not try this I bet that's what it is. Let us know what you find.

I just fixed a similar problem.

- Truck would hesitate while driving, then die.
- I changed Cam Sensor and made it 10 miles, dead again.
- Would turn over but would not start.
- Then "Wait to start" light would not come on.
- I put the old cam sensor back in and noticed the 3 wires that go to the plug on the cam sensor were bare. They had been shorting out.
- Seperated wires and truck runs great.
- I need to replace the wires going to the cam sensor.
- These wires are in the direct path of fuel filter drain tubing.
- Diesel must damage wire insulation causing it to become brittle then fall off.
