need help
Found out what was wrong with my truck. Mechanic said it was a blown head gasket. Wants to send cylinder heads out to be machined. Is it neccessary? Wants to charge me $1500-$2000. Can I change the gaskets myself?

are you sure it is a blown head gasket?
did you see him do or read the results of a compression test?
can you do repair work?
give a little more info.

i would highly reccomend machining the heads though, idk about prices by you but i can have it done by a reputable guy for $125 to $150 but if your short on funds al least check warpage with a straightedge and a feeler gauge before you put it back together, i think .005 -.008 is max if i remember right
