Hello again, just for your guys insight, I di a full throttle body cleaning on my 89 EB 302, and it run about 50 percent better, the timing is off so i have to fix that tomorrow afternoon, so it will be in good running condition!!
Since I have done this it idles at about 1500 RPM, does anybody know how to lower it?? The brakes barely hold it in four-low, the exhaust and then the brakes are next on my list!! But can some one help me ou with the idle??
You can adjust the idle on the throttle body. I think there is a screw that you can move in and out to control air intake and raise or lower idle rpms.
Yeah, the screw is on the mechanism that controls the air intake on top of the TB. It stops the mechanism from closing totally.
That's if your screw is still a screw. Mine is immovable, is totally rusted, and has no head at all. Tried turning it once with pliers, but it didn't budge!
That screw should NEVER be adjusted, except to put it BACK in the factory location. The correct position for that screw is so that, with the IAC unplugged, the engine ALMOST continues to run at a VERY low idle, but dies.
If the IAC doesn't work, replace it - don't hide it by messing with the idle stop screw.
