ok, so, more about lights...
So here's the deal, my brights are good, my lows are'nt even that bad, but on alot of roads around my area there is no other alternative light source especially if it is cloudy, or the moon is'nt full. So, what I'm wondering is if I need to go with some kind of driving light (preferrably one that will cut fog) or try the modification that allows you to have your highs and lows on ( I don;t have the factory fog lights). As far as aftermarket driving lights, what brands/models seem to work the best, and what have you guys done as far as mounting brackets, and locations? Thanks!

Driving lights give somewhat narrow long-distance beams for use with high beams. Ideally mounted a little higher up (within reason).
Fogs give short wide beams, preferably having a sharp cut-off not too high off the ground, and for use with low beams. Ideally mounted lower and farther apart.
Sorry if that was already understood, many people use them interchangeably. If you buy anything above part store specials (the $30 lights) you can expect a fairly decent beam that fits the description of the pattern.
1. Don't expect any driving lights to cut through fog, it won't happen, not if they are anywhere close to properly aimed. Unless it is very light fog, driving lights are your enemy.
2. Driving lights on with the high beams will far surpass high and low beam. Having low beams on, while it can help with the immediate sides of the road, can actually hinder long range vision. More light up close makes things farther away seem dimmer. You will also be more likely to focus up close where all of the light is instead of down the road (where you should be looking). Don't expect it to do much for bulb life either. Highs and lows together is more placebo than truly helpful (in most cases/situations). It can be a different case if the beams were designed for this originally.
Driving lights will fill in and extend the useful range of your high beams. Do not use them anywhere you wouldn't use your high beams.
As far as the other questions, what is your budget for the whole project (ballpark)? Do you want a grill guard, bull bar or neither?
