isn't that normal for a diesel?? my '02 gasser is a pure turtle when its cold...i'm pretty sure that i've heard that a diesel is worse. sometimes takes the tranny a while to heat up to normal operating temps. don't push it when its cold. the tranny could "cold seize"...then you got problems!!

My 04 6.0 is the same way, when its cold wont move....then after 15 minutes it runs like the wind....Just figured it was a PSD thing. I heard that you have to warm them up anyhow so it never really bothered me till a buddy borrowed the Beast and complained. Now nobody borrows my baby...

Diesels have no ignition system. The compress of the fuel mix creates heat and ignites itself. If the coolant/block/heads are cold it may take a few minutes to get them up to a tempature that ignites the fuel effeciently. I remember a few years ago there was a device that mounts inline to the heater core that was a minature propane heater. It heated the water which heated the block/heads so the motor would warm up quicker.
