IP calibration
I need to calibrate the new injection pump for my 86' 6.9 F-250. If you all could give me a run down of how to do it as well as any tricks or tips I'd be most appreciative. I'd use the Haynes manual, but have had mixed success with that book. I'd rather hear the answer from the real experts. Thanks in advance.

About the only thing you should have to adjust once you install the pump in the truck is to line up the timing mark on the injection pump flange with the timing mark on the housing flange. (top 12 o'clock position)
You could play with a number of adjustments yourself but at the risk of making a mistake I would leave it to the professionals with the proper tools. For example, overdo the fuel adjustment and you could melt your pistons by exceeding the maximum design temperature of the pistons, run to much advance timing and the engine knock might just drop a valve into your cylinder.
Haynes does not cover specific IP adjustments, but rather IP re&re as they know the average joe mechanic does not have the calibration tools it takes to properly calibrate an IP.
