I have a f-250 diesal 2005 6.0 . I have a superchip programmer set at performance. When i ride around town the temperture shoots up to high. I took it to ford at stock mode and they replaced the thermostat and the second time blowing out white smoke they changed the egr cooler. Then driving around again it shot up to high again. What could it be ? I have the programmer off for a week it runs fine. The dealer said also that i did not blow a head.... Has anyone else had this problem...thanks

I don't have a problem with overheating...but I do have a problem with white/blue smoke. Did the smoke stop when they replaced the cooler? and when exactly did the smoke show up? mine does it right when I accellerate from a stop. Thanks. Good luck with your tuner question...~Brad
So you are saying the coolant temps go up? White smoke where? I don't see how a programer can do that not just driving around town..I may be wrong but I don't think the programer can do that, It can't make the themostat stick closed.....Unless your radiator is almost blocked or a hose is collapsing..Put it back on and check again. Where do you live? Mexico ON EDIT oh I see florida! You have a cooling system problem Either hose or thermostat or rad or PUMP. Thats my guess.

'RCODE1' - get rid of the superchip programmer! Aftermarket add-ons are not always a good thing. It is not worth trashing your motor. Ford will not replace a motor until they fully investigate why it blew. Ford wont investigate on piddly stuff like thermostats & egr coolers. They will investigate on major stuff like a blown head or motor. Ford will eventually know what happened - I dont know how, but they will.
Even though this is a V6 gas motor, I had a friend with a newer Mustang that added the superchip programmer to the car. The programmer was specifically made for this motor. He did everything by the book. Somehow on performance mode it started overheating and then detonating (knocking, smoking out exhaust, and loosing power). He removed the programmer, car still ran like crap, took car in for warranty work. On something major like this, Ford investigated it and then they finally figured out what really happened - obviously major stuff like this does not happen without some kind of external help. He even tried contacting Superchips, but no help there. My friend never admitted to Ford anything, he even told Ford he would sue. Bottom line, he paid out of pocket for a new crate motor and threw away the superchip programmer.

when I asked a local diesel performance shop near me about a programer, He commented th do help mpg and power but warned it was comon to have an overheating problem especially at higher power settings, the way he put it is when you burn more fuel it makes more heat it has to go somewhere.
check your coolant level I bet its low. i go thru a gallon a week If I drive it hard or tow my trailer, if I dont add coolant it over heats very easily.
