Hello, and need some help.

I have been a member of this forum for some time but this is my first post. I have a 2000 SD Power Stroke 4x4 with the electronic switch on the dash. Yesterday afternoon I needed to shift into 4WD and if failed me. The truck has the automatic transmission. I was out at our gun club and was driving up an incline that had 6" of snow. As I realized that I might need 4Hi I switched the control on the dash to 4Hi and I proceeded to get stuck. My friend who was with me nuged me out with his Suburban, The embarassment of it was unbearable. Anyway, he told me that he did not see my front wheels turning as he was backing up.

Later on after I got home I took the truck around the block and set it in 4 Hi but did not get the telltale feel in the steering wheel that I was in 4WD, however, the dash indicator for 4X4 was light.

Is there an easy fix?
