Well I took the plunge and changed my plugs yesterday. A couple of things that made it suck less. The first was that I used a top side creeper that my wife bought me for xmas. This gives you a ladder to climb up on it and a padded spot to lay looking down on the motor. The next was to remove the drivers side fuel rail. This made #7 & #8 much easier to get at and it did not take much to do it. I am trying NGK BR7EFS at the suggestion of the shop that does my tuning and dyno work. Because I run a supercharger with a fair amount of boost they tell me that with less electrode area sticking out I should have less detonation problem. Time will tell.
The advice given to you by your tuner is sound. I run the Denso's myself (supercharged as well) and I did it only becuase I couldn't believe I could spend just a hair under $100 (and wait 6 weeks) for a set of spark plugs.
