i will be going with autometer ultralite2's they look really nice with quad a-pillar, pyro, transtemp, oil psi, and either water temp or boost, i have not decided yet because the electric water temp gauge is really expensive, and do not want to go with a mechanical one because i rather not have any fluids coming in the cab with me. and i already have the factory boost gauge.

Isspro, best visibility, most accurate and match factory perfect! on a 6.0, Pyro (EGT not EGR) boost, Tranny temp, and Fuel pressure. There is no reason to watch the oil pressure on a stock or mild built truck... That is the one nice thing about out injection system, NO oil pressure, No start... You have to have oil to fire the injectors and to prime the High Pressure Oil Pump

I installed the ones on my '05 (2 gauges egt and trans) onmy a pillar. On my 06 I intalled 3 ( egt, trans, and coolant) in an over th mirror mount and like it much better. you get to keep your grab handel by the door. Also the factory coolant temp isn't much better than the trans temp acts the same way doesn't vary after warm up from normal to when the fan kicks in. My after market shows where it normally runs about 185 and where the fan kicks in about 210.

I'm not suggesting anybody is wrong but if i have any gauges put in it will be oil pressure and boost. After that i'm thinking about it.

Southbound i think i'm going to go with the 3 pod on the A-frame i have'nt liked the 4 pods i've seen. I think i want to steal lonewolf's work where he puts voltmeter. My power pedal button is down low on the other side so i think i can have gauges there, then i'm thinking an under dash mount, this way i can have all the gauges and i can add as i go along.
I'm thinking boost, pyro, and water temp on the pillor. Then the volts, trans temp beside the steering wheel. Under the dash i'm thinking fuel, oil pressure, and what ever else.

Exiled, whatever gauges you choose, make sure to get the pyro to monitor EGT. Hands down the single most important reading you want to take of your motor. Running stock, towing low weight loads, I wouldn't worry about it too much, but if you run any type of power program or haul heavy on long steep grades its a must. Keep your EGT's under 1250 deg. (sustained) and you won't have a bit of trouble from your turbo. Just my $.02. Hope this helps.

CSIPSD, i would say you have some gauges. I'm goingto do something like that but i dont plan on doing an overhead. I have the lie-o-meter already i dont for see getting red of the useless thing anytime soon. well i keep it on the temp it is rather accurrate.
Shu873 thanks for you input. I'm planning on the 7 i've already mentioned. On my pillar i plan on have the pyro, boost and water temp. Then i'll start adding all the others at different times. I'm going ahead and starting the pillar and putting the pyro there cause it looks like the is going to cost the most so i'm goingto go ahead and get it over with. Then i can breath alittle better as i add more.

CSIPSD i have nothing against the overheads just mine has the power switch for the moonroof etc, its already busy enough up there as it is.
SHU873, I never haul light. Its not an ego thing it just seems i cant get a light load. I buy feed for my cattle and i get a bulk discount, but to get the discount i have to buy at least 5ton but no more than 7ton with a retail licence. So yea i always get the 7ton. The we throw on the minarallicks blah blah. When ever theres work to do they call the grunt, thats my truck. My father-n-law rented us a backhoe a couple yrs ago when we put in some water trouphs out in the pastors. I just had my 97 F150 at the time he calls me up saying he can save $50 if i haul it. "Oh it's just alittle one" Yea right. I dont know what size it was but it weight 8300lbs. I tell ya that 1/2 ton earned its bread that day.
After i get my gauges in and pretty sure their telling the truth, and i understand what they are telling me i'm thinking about a sct tuner. I dont know if i ever will install the tuner or not. One thing being that nobody around here sells the sct they all sell bullydog, edge, another one i never heard of. From what i've read i like the sct better. Of course this is stemmed from what i've read i dont have any expernce to fall back on with any of them.

I figured i would add this to this thread instead of starting up another thread about gauges.
has anyone purchased and installed the autometer carbon fiber gauges? I'm doing some research on gauges and those are one set i'm looking into, or the normal autolites. i don't really like the ones that glow too much, just distracting imo. not for everyone. the carbons look pretty cool. just wanted to know if they are easy to see day and night or not. also, i'm putting them down near the hump in the center of the truck. i am not coming up with many sites that actually sell a 3 or 4 pod under dash mount for our trucks. i'm sure just any generic 4 gauge mount would work, but even autometers website isn't coming up with any, unless i'm not searching in the right area.
any help would be appreciated. thanks.

While it does not appear on the website yet, ISSPRO has a triple under-dash pod, P/N R77013-AM. Most ISSPRO dealers should carry it, or you can order direct.

Just wondering...I once was looking into an edge/attitude system and was talked out of it. I am wondering now if maybe I should still get it and use it only to monitor all of the things that dont show up on the dash. I would not really use it to change motor settings.

Is there a better digital type gauge that I can just plug into the truck somewhere? I am somewhat new to diesels but would like to figure something out so I can monitor my truck.

I have also been looking into a device that would keep the truck on for a short time to cool down after I turn the key off. Can I find that devide built into a good set of digital gauges?

I dont need a lot more power, I just need to protect the investment I already have. Its a 2004 6.0 F250. Thanks for any input you might have...

Don't tell our marketing department that I'm talking about competitors features, but I believe there are some units out there that have gauge displays and incorporate turbo timers (some actually include turbo temp monitors and shutdown based on EGT). I think the Edge A2 has it, and the Quadzilla Commander was rumored to be getting it as an upgrade.

I prefer analog gauges and separate turbo temp monitors, but of course I am biased
