I ordered a set of painted headers from summit and when they arrived ups had destroyed the original box (they left a little note apologizing for the repackaging). There aren't any instructions in there now and the little box on the inside for the screws has a big hole in it. How many bolts am I supposed to have? Do I need to torque the new bolts when I put them in or just get them as tight as possible? Before I start doing this stuff is there anything else I need to know?
Personally I'd file a claim for damage with UPS or whoever the shipper was. Your headers didn't leave Summit minus instructions, a list of components shipped, or all the hardware. Let Summit know that this happened too. They should be just as concerned that the company they use for shipping is damaging the merchandise.
To the questions you had though... there should be enough hardward to replace all the stock hardware that you removed unless the stock hardware is reused in some locations....again, something the instructions would tell you along with torque specs for those particular headers. I am certain there is a specific torque considering tightening them "as tight as possible" could mean crushing or damaging exhaust gaskets. Hope this helps. Again, If it was my order and this happened, the shipping carrier would be making up for the damage and missing components etc..
