94' Eddie Bauer 5.8L. Circuit City says its a 6.5", but they also said the rear was a 5x7, which I know it is not. Its a 5.25" with a very small tweeter. Anyone know for sure what the front one is in the door?
The fronts are 6 1/2 and the rear you can go 5 x7 or 6 x 8. I made a custom mount for the rear. It uses a 6 1/2 woofer and a separate tweeter w/ crossover.
My rear was not a 6.5" speaker. It was a Blaupunct (SP?) 5.25" with a small tweeter. But it looked like a factory little plastic surrounding around it. That's what concerned me about Circuit City's info. A 5x7 would fit, and I bet I could even get a 6x9 in there if need be. Its not a huge concern in the rear since I disconnected them and am running a sub box in the back, but I may decide to try a 5x7 later on.
Good to know that a 6.5" will fit up front. I was hoping so since I have a sweet set of Polk Audio 6.5" speaker left over from my old XJ.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-13-03 AT 06:23 PM (EST)]Was the 5.25 w/tweeter one piece? That could be the 5 x 7. A 6 x 9 will fit with a little trimmin'.
On your 6.5.....make sure that there isn't too much tweeter protrusion. I can't remember what the max was, but Crutchfield gives the specs.
i just replaced mine and my wifes front and rear speakers.
mines a 95 EB, front 5 1/4 back 5 x 7
and the wifes is a 94 xlt has the same size speakers, front and rear. on the front i had to re-dril the screw holes for the front to get them to line up.
Mine were 6.5" up front. Did it last night. Was also pleasantly suprised to see some very good Sony tweeters up there. I kept those along with the aftermarket Kenwood deck and it sounds sweet right now. Very good sound.
