If the nuts take a 19mm socket they get torqued to 100 ft.lb.
If they take a 21mm socket they get torqued to 150 ft.lb.
The owner's manual will have the torque specs too. If you don't have one you can download it from www.motorcraft.com
I need the spec for the wheel nut.....the nut that holds bearings and the rotor in place. I replaced the front end bearing because of slight lateral wobbling of the front end most notable at slow speeds. The wobbling remains only less so , so I thinks I don't have thos e nuts on the spindles tight enough. What do you think?
THANKS to those who responded.
Tighten hub nut to 30 ft-lbs/40 Nm while turning
wheel. Back off 2 turns. While rotating brake disc,
tighten to 17-24 ft-lbs/22-34 Nm. Loosen nut
175°. tighten nut to 17 in-lbs/2 Nm.
Check this link below to be sure that I am correct in this application. Also, Please, Understand that I can't be responsible for the provided information. But it was the best I could find. Be sure to hand pack your bearings. The information...It's really confusing to me as I personally tighten the nut down to about 70#'s and back it off to the first place I could get a cotter key in. But then, that's me. I don't mind being responsible for what I do personally to my vehicles. Joe
