loose steering

i finally paid off my truck. it's a 1988 f350 with a 460. it's lifted 10" with 38" swampers. there are a few things wrong wih it but the worst problem of all is the loose steering. it has alot of play when i trun the wheel to the right. what are some things i can do to fix or improve the steering response. any help would be appreciated.

Have someone turn the steering wheel while you look in the engine bay. If you can see the wheel more more than an inch without moving anything inside the steering gear (or the pitman arm), then you would benefit from installing a rebuilt steering gear.

When I did that job it helped steering tighten up substantially.
