Serious Trans Noise
I have a 99 expidition with a 5.4 and I have a loud knocking noise coming from the back of the engine or right at the tourqe converter flywheel area starts right at 1800 rpm on up and stops the second you let off the throttle in gerar or in neutral it is a real shocking noise truck has 119000 miles any avise would be grat thanks Mak

First of all, remove the access panel and make sure all the flywheel bolts are tight. If so, I'd suspect a cracked or broken flywheel however there is another possibility...
EXHAUST HEAT SHIELDS! Smack under the exhaust (when cold of course) with your hands or a rubber mallot and if you have a loose shield secure it down with hose clamps. Believe it or not this can actually make a pretty horrific noise.
