Knock/Tick Help Please

I have a 97 f150 super cab 4.6 4x4 with approx 135k It has a engine noise that I do not seem to be able to hear when cold but can hear when engine is hot. Seems to go away upon acceleration. Does not sound like exhaust leak. I think it may be the catyilatic converter on the passenger side but not sure. Cannot hear from the top of engine and when I climb under It does not sound like it is coming from the lower end. It seems to be near the cat. converter.

Sounds like further investigation may be needed. But you're the only one that can hear it...Can you hear it when you let off of the gas after acceleration like from 55mph and then let off?

If you think it is coming from the catys, try taking it to a reputiable muffler shop and have them test the catys. Here, we have several shops that can test them to make sure they are working ok. I am not sure exactly how they do this, but i had a 1988 Ford Crown Vic that did something similar to what you are describing. My 302 was fine, but the catys were infact bad. Try that first, and then go from there. Good luck.
