I haven't seen it done without swapping the heads and intake. The EFI intake wasn't made for a carb to bolt on it. I thought that was the case when I first started looking into a 460 to swap into my truck. Not to mention that your engine is computer controled so a lot of other things will most likely not work correctly without reprograming it or getting rid of it.

Why do you want to do a EFI to carb swap?

well, if youre rebuilding it anyways id just go to a junkyard and pick up an intake and a pair of d3ve heads to rebuild. you should be able to get the intake for about 50 dollars and the heads for around 100- around half of what the ecm would cost. youll also need a distributor- about 50 dollars at any auto parts store

any 460 is a good stroker candidate. if youre going with a 4.5" stroke then the 1979 and up are a little better, if going 4.3 then it doesnt matter. any 460 block will work for either though. with the stroker youll need to do some porting on whatever stock heads you get, or go aftermarket aluminum.

i cant remember exactly what the size is, but the D3 heads are right in the middle of the 3 sizes. 68 -71's are the smallest, then 72-74, then the giant smog heads are 75 & up.

without good porting the d3ve heads wont flow enough for a stroker. theyre stock 2.08 intake/1.65 exhaust and were used from 1973-1987, in 1988 they went fuel injection. the cc's varied from 93-97 on the d3ve's , to get the cc's on yours you have to actually measure them. the 1968-71 are the smallest cc at 72-74, and actually the 1972 heads had the biggest chambers at just over 100 cc, and were only used the one year because the chamber shape was so prone to detonation you had to run 91 octane even though compression was only 8-1

the f3 head would be a 93. with proper porting the d3ve would work fine, but i would recommend some aftermarket aluminum heads personally. youll need dished pistons for a stroker to run pump gas even with large chamber heads. it all depends on your budget and application. what are you planning on using the f350 for? how much are you willing to spend?

if youve only got about 3 grand you wont be able to do a stroker properly. 3 grand would just get you a stroker shortblock done. youd still have to pick up a set of heads and redo them, an intake, a carb, a cam, valvetrane, some misc. small parts, and getting it assembled properly. for your budget id leave it a 460, do a mild rebuild, get a die grinder and do some exhaust porting on a pair of d3ve heads, new stainless valves, good valve springs, retainers and locks, nice 600-650 cfm edelbrock carb and edelbrock performer or weiand stealth intake, rv cam kit with lifters, new pushrods, maybe a rocker stud kit and roller rockers. thatll be about 3 grand right there and would give you around 400 horse and 500 ft-lbs torque and would be all things youd have to do for a stroker. if you had 5,000 dollars, then you could have a nice stroker build. for porting instructions you should go to www.reincarnation-automotive.com, or just go there and buy a set already ported from him
