I read in the specs somewhere that the Escape is listed as having a variable intake (v6 model). I know my Fusion has variable intake timing, does the Escape have the same variable timing system , or does this refer to a variable intake manifold ?. Any info would be helpful. thanks
Variable intake could refer to variable intake timing (like your Fusion) or the type of intake manifold the V6 SHO's had with butterfly valves that opened at 4000 rpm for additional breathing. I don't think the V6 in the Escape has either.
yeah I thought the escape engine was pretty simple, but if you read the specs on the Escape it lists variable intake, so just wondering which one it would be , timing or manifold. I doubt it is a misprint.
it says variable intake manifold now that I read it closer.
The link is on the Ford of Canada website, it shows up when you compare vehicles, so if you pick the Escape xls and Escape xlt it will compare features and under xlt it says variable intake manifold is a standard feature.
Maybe they just mean the shape/length of the manifold runners are variable, I don't think there is any device on the manifold that moves and makes it variable.
