steering column lock

hey, i was just wondering when ford introduced the steering column lock in the f-series. my 78 f250 doesnt have one, but my old 72 lincoln did. was it optional, or did they just not use one until later on trucks?

80-up got it, not 79 and earlier. 79 and earlier all had the key in the dash.

The Steering column wheel Lock/Ignition IMHO are crappy.

It is a huge problem went things start breaking.

I prefer the Pre-80 system.
