smog pump compressor?
im looking to add compressed air to my 1986 bronco, may get an old york ac compressor but was also wondering if the air pump(smog pump) is powerful enough for filling a 4gallon air tank to 90psi?
also is there no way to add an oil resevoir to my ac compressor?
northern canada here so i dont have to pass air care... and ac is kind off a non issue were i am. TIA

The smog pump has the ability to push a few psi but I seriously doubt you could get 90 psi out of it. The internal mechanism is a set of rubber/vynil vanes that generate the air movement. To get the kind of psi you are looking for you will need something with a much stronger compression mechanism. Not to mention that if you tap it, you will be diverting air needed for the emissions equipment, specifically your catalytic converter which will quickly overheat if it has no fresh air injection.

The catalytic converter only gets hot when there's air available to react with the unburned fuel from the exhaust. If you don't supply air, it'll never get hotter than the exhaust gasses at that point in the pipe, which isn't NEARLY as hot as it gets when it's working.
