Got my fuel filter from Geno's Garage yesterday so this morning I figure I will put in the filter and replace the o-rings on the valve. Go out to lunch with the wife, spend some time on the computer, finally figure it is time to get to work. Walk out side, holy crap where did the sun go? It is cold outside and the wind is blowing like crazy from the north. Well that ain't going to stop me. This should be an easy quick job. I started by taking the Powerstroke cover off. Well, one of the bolts broke off, crap again. Oh well can't do anything about it now, on with the show. I am not sure exactly where the fuel dump line empties out so I open it a little, it's the yellow handle that moves left and right, correct?, well when I move it, I get nothing, zero, zip, nada.... Cycle it open and close a few times, no go. Ok again on with the show. Take the filter lid off. Oh, by the way, useing one of those filter wrenches that open really wide mouthed works really well. Replace the filter and all goes well.
Now can anyone tell me what the heck is wrong with the drain valve? Also does anyone know where I can get another bracket for the Powerstroke cover?
By the way thanks to Texas Outlaw for sending me two o-rings. Thanks.....
Sounds like the drain line is just plugged. If you've been mudding, it could have come up from the bottom side on the front of the engine. Might try poking a little clothes hanger wire part iof the way up from the bottom to see if you get any dirt out. Otherwise, you could (one more time) disassemble the filter and try to poke or blow compressed air through the line from the top.
Don't know where you can get the bracket. Hope this helps.
