Question conversion help!!!!!

New to site folks, i like the idea. I have an '87 bronco,5.0, 3 speed auto,(c-6) I believe. the block and trans. housing have 287,000 miles on them,it's time for to freshen them up.I don't want to rebuild them again. I also have an '88 bronco, 5.0, 4 speed auto, electronic shift transfer case. I want to put the engine and trans. from the '88 into the '87 but keep the original manual shift transfer case in the '87. I know the parts will bolt in but will i need to change the ecm and if so the wiring harness? Any and all info on this problem and others I may encounter would be greatly appreciated , thanks. ag30265

I never got into wiring ect. when I owned my 88. If it the one with shifter 1,D,OD . It sucked to pull with couldn't lock into 2nd gear. I put a c6 in it. Don't think be bad swap.

ok your 87 has a C6 which is a bulletproof tranny and to get a well built version to handle lots of hp would cost no more then $800. Now the 88 has the AOD (non eletronic OD) while this is a great tranny it is a tad spendier to have rebuilt to same hp levels but it does have OD which in these days is nice. regardless the swap is a strait over swap. keep the wiring and everything on the 88 motor and tranny (pull them together) and drop them in place of the 87 motor/tranny. I would also use the 88 ecu not that it matters the 87 is probably the same unit or close to it. I would hold on to that C6 though.
