Mounting inner door panels ?
I'm getting to ready to mount my new inner door panels. My truck did not originally come with these so I need to drill the holes. I plan to put a drop of blue silicone caulk on the back of my trim where each clip goes. Then push the panel against the door and leave a blue smudge on the door where each clip goes. Then center punch and drill the holes and mount the panels.
Does anyone have a better method or some words of warning ? I'm just a bit nervous drilling a nicely painted door - got to get it right the first time.
Also, anybody know what size hole I should be drilling ?
thanks for the help.
John.
And if you do need to center punch the holes so your bit don't walk, use a light touch, maybe even a rubber mallot. Start drilling with a small, very small
bit and step up in bit size as needed. Take your time !
P.S. if you do drill them use sharp bits and slow drill speed , You also may want to slip a small piece of rubber hose on your drill bit, almost the whole length of the bit so it does not bottom out on the paint!
