Bought a 95 4x4 4.0 AT when purchased the wipers worked 4x4 worked dome light worked all blower settings worked.... Since then that was about 5 months ago one by one they went out... Well the middle 2 blower settings, 4x4 and dome went at the same time... Wipers worked fine then went wacky (woruld run when they wanted to, sprayed fluid only in a certain position would be on low run on high and vice versa would only turn off in middle intermittent) that last about a day and since then they havent run... I located a replacement GEM for it for 70$ does that sound like a feesible source of the problems... All fuses look good swapped around the relays with no luck, changed the wiper switch.... No luck,,,
95 Ranger correct? I do not believe the GEM has anything to do with the 4x4.
I am assuming you have the pushbutton 4x4? If you do, I would check all the fuses inside the cab, and under the hood(you may or may not have a fuse box under there).
The domelights are tied into the GEM. Possibly the wipers too, so the Gem might fix those.
Well turns out when i replaced the switch a while ago the one i swapped it with wasnt doin anything.. So i put the original back in.... Well turns out somewhere i had a bad connection to the GEM... I wiggled it and boom got my 4x4 back. Dome light, door chime, and wipers went crazy swapped the replacment switch in.. PERFECT!!!!
My wiper pump was workin when they went crazy now its not so i dunno if if its gettin a bad connection in the switch itself now so im gonna open it up and clean it...
Thanks for that info. I do not have any good diagrams for that year. They must be powering some of the 4x4 circuits off the accessory delay relay which is controlled by the GEM.
