Noticed a burning smell coming from my truck yestarday. I found it coming from the front driver side tire. The rotor on this side is getting real hot with city braking, but seems to be fine on highway. I have not noticed any loss in brake power? Any idea what might be happening??
Also, I'm assuming the diesel and gas truck brakes are the same here......
I had a pad get trashed on mine. There are some "clips that help spread the pads apart and keep them off the rotor when the brakes are not engaged. One of mine had broken and fallen off. The pad proceded to wedge itself between the rotor and caliper bracket one day while I was backing up. It actually stopped the truck while idling backwards!
They are available in the hardware kit from NAPA.....
Well it stopped doing it tonight. The brakes did not get warmer then usual. Im keeping a close eye on it though. I need new pads soon anyway so its a good time to check everything.
2006 F350 HD CC Diesel. I cooked my brakes after only 4000kms on my new truck. A calipper came appart on the driver's side. We were towing a 5th wheel at the time. We had to stop and cool the brakes down, every 20 miles while going down a grade.
Ford replaced them under warranty, but the new ones don't feel as good as the originals. I feel as if I don't have adequate braking. Can't explain why. The test drove the truck and said it was all fine.
Does anyone know if there are after market oversized brakes that one could install on the F350. I mean brakes with rotors that would dissipate heath better and also a higher grade of calippers and pads.
